Affiliate disclosure
Last updated: 2026-05-11.
BasisScience.com is supported by affiliate commissions. This page explains what that means and which programs we participate in. We are required to disclose this relationship by US Federal Trade Commission rules and by the operating agreements of the programs we belong to. We'd disclose it anyway — it's how you can read our reviews honestly.
The short version
- Some product links on this site are affiliate links.
- If you click one and buy the product, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you.
- Affiliate commission has never decided where a product ranks in our buying guides, and never will.
- We label affiliate links with
rel="sponsored nofollow"and pair them with a visible disclosure near the link.
Amazon Associates
BasisScience.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Our Amazon tracking ID is basisscience-20. Every link we publish to Amazon carries this tag. If you remove the tag manually, we don't earn anything from your purchase — the product price is the same either way.
Other affiliate programs
We participate, or may participate, in direct affiliate programs with the following companies. Some of these run through networks like Impact, Awin, or ShareASale.
- Oura
- Whoop
- Withings
- Garmin (where available in our region)
- Fitbit / Google Store (where available)
- Apple via affiliate networks (where available)
- Selected sleep and recovery apps and services
Where we publish a link to one of these vendors, the same rules apply: it is labelled, it is rel="sponsored nofollow", and the commission did not decide the recommendation.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. If we ever publish sponsored content, it will be marked "Sponsored" at the top of the page, not buried in a disclosure box.
- We do not cloak affiliate links. Hovering a link will show the actual destination.
- We do not "negative-review" competitors of an advertiser to favor a paying brand. We don't have paying brands.
- We do not insert affiliate links into informational explainer articles (HRV, sleep stages, etc.) when no specific product is being recommended.
Free products and review units
If a manufacturer sends us a product to test, we will say so in the review with the words "review unit provided by [manufacturer]." We do not promise positive coverage in exchange for a unit, and we do not return units to manufacturers (which would be a financial incentive); we either purchase the unit at a documented discount, keep it for ongoing testing, or donate it.
Questions
Email editor@basisscience.com with anything that's unclear here, or anything that looks like a violation of our own policy. We will fix it in public.
